Physio-led exercises for pregnancy and beyond.

What can you expect?

Reformer Pilates

Reformer pilates beds use spring loaded resistance to perform exercises in various positions to strengthen many muscles in your body. Focus in pregnancy and postnatally is on the deep core and pelvic muscles. Other equipment such as balls, light hand weights, magic circles and therabands may also be used for strengthening exercises.

Physiotherapists

All classes are designed & instructed by qualified Physiotherapists with a special interest & training in women’s health & pregnancy. Our physiotherapists are also members of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and have provider numbers for claiming with private health insurance.

Exercises can be modified for individual conditions such as low back pain, DRAM, pelvic pain, prolapse, carpal tunnel or any other injuries/conditions.

Please inform your Physiotherapist of any medical conditions or musculoskeletal changes during your pregnancy or upon returning after your birth.

During pregnancy it is important to perform the correct exercises to adjust to the changes in your body both physically and hormonally while also preparing you for childbirth.

Exercise in pregnancy has many benefits for both the mother and baby especially when modified and performed correctly.

A tailored and supervised exercise program in the postpartum period is important to regain strength of deep abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, which have stretched and weakened significantly during pregnancy.

Bumps classes are designed and instructed by Physiotherapists for pregnant women during the 2nd & 3rd trimester.

Physiotherapists can guide you, modify exercises and adjust your technique to help you safely exercise throughout your pregnancy and also return to exercise again after childbirth.

Bumps reformer pilates classes can be attended after your 12 week scan, with clearance to exercise from your GP, obstetrician or midwife and from 6 weeks postpartum.
