Bumps Pilates Classes

For your first class, please BYO towel, grip socks & water bottle.

If you have any medical conditions please make sure you get a signed clearance to exercise by your practitioner.

Pregnancy & Postnatal classes.

All pregnancy exercises are performed on the pilates reformer bed in sitting, kneeling, side lie, kneeling, standing and all 4’s, using light weights, balls and bands. Post natal women will perform slightly different exercises and positions than the pregnant women in the class. Pregnant women will not lie on their stomachs or backs after 16 weeks pregnant.

An overall body workout with focus on specific connection between deep abdominals and pelvic floor while strengthening around the pelvis and shoulder girdle too.

Exercises can be modified or adjusted for women with specific injuries or conditions so that women are exercising safely for their own ability. All women are at different stages of their pregnancy or recovery after birth so will be working at different levels as required.

Some postnatal classes you are able to bring along your newborn (non mobile) to be beside you in the class. You will perform different exercises to the pregnant women as you can now lie supine and prone on the reformer bed with specific focus on rehabilitation of your abdominals and pelvic floor muscles.

Mothers groups

You can arrange your own mothers group class with your new born babies from 6 weeks. A minimum of 5 participants is required. A 4 week postpartum course for recovery following childbirth will be designed to improve your abdominal and pelvic floor strength & a great way to get back into exercise safely again.

Please contact Bumps to arrange a suitable time for your mothers group to attend together. Suitable class times may include: Tuesdays or Thursdays 1pm, Thursdays or Fridays 10.30am.

Private sessions

Private sessions can be arranged for an individualised program with a Physiotherapist or if you are new to pilates and would like some 1:1 time to learn how to use the beds and perform exercises correctly.

If you have any specific injuries or conditions you may benefit from doing some private sessions with a Physiotherapist to work on specific areas and rehabilitation.

Home visits can also be arranged if you would like a Pilates program designed for you while you are recovering postnatally in the early months.
